UTILITY WORKERS
The electric company
Understands the poor
That survive day to day
And night by night
Perhaps because
There’s lots
Of poor people
In Mexico
When the lines
Were broken
By the motor grader
They came and fixed them
They advised
To use more caution
If you see the machine coming
This way again
Talk to its operator
Or disconnect the cables
To avoid further damage
Because it belongs
To everybody
The neighbors
Looked at each-other
And they seemed content

MUSICAL LIFE SAVERS
The song
“One love”
Saved my life
Many years ago
Last night
It was
“Road house blues”
Sung by Jim Morrison
That kept me
From being hit

THE SALT OF THE EARTH
Anne Sexton
Wrote something
About death
Saying more or less
That it
Tastes terrible
Like salt
Salt is not bad
It has a full flavor
It makes food eatable
Even if the food
Doesn’t look good
Or tastes good
Salt makes it all better
Next time you see
A dish
That your afraid
To eat
Add a little bit
Of salt
And take a bite
